Alright, so as far as I'm aware, there isn't a proper solution to my proper right now. If there is, it would be nice if someone posted a link :)) Anyways, I, a huge simpleton when it comes to anything involving java and coding or whatever, tried to add ram to my minecraft because it only has like 500 MB allocated and I have 8GB of ram. BTW, here are my specs:

Processor: Interl(R) Core(TM) i5-4440 CPU @ 3.10 GHz

Installed Memory: 8.00 GB (7.88 usable)

System type: 64-bit Operating System



My java version is Java 8 Update 20 64-bit. Every time I try to add ram by inputting the -Xmx2048M -Xms2048M command, an error screen pops up that says:

Error occurred during initialization of VM
Initial heap size set to a larger value than the maximum heap size
Picked up _JAVA_OPTIONS: -Xmx512M

How do I change the java options? This probably even a minecraft problem but it would be nice if someone helped Thank you!

In the Minecraft Launcher, where it shows the Minecraft News, at the lower left hand side of that window, you will see a button called EDIT PROFILE. Click on that and it will open up a new window called PROFILE EDITOR. At the bottom left of that window, above the CANCEL button will be JVM ARGUMENTS. Check that box and it should setup your Minecraft session to use 256megs minimum to 2gigs maximum. I have not had good luck on making the -Xmx and -Xmn exactly the same, so leave them as they are and try it out that way. It should run fine for you. Be sure to click SAVE PROFILE and then launching the game to try it out.
