I'm playing on a friend's server and decided I wanted to map out our area. I created four large maps, charted them all out, and then made copies of them. I put one copy in item frames in the center of town, and another set in my house. I kept a third set to use when walking around.
The problem is, ever since I put them in the item frames, my arrow no longer shows up. I can still walk around and discover undiscovered portions of the map, but my marker is invisible, or so I thought.
I did some research and found this bug: https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MC-3416 It's my understanding that this bug has been an issue for a while now, and that people have discovered a fix by editing the minecraft files. I've tried to figure it out myself, and I've found the .minecraft file, but I can't figure out how to apply this fix. Can anyone help me? Is there a better way of solving this?
