I've spent about 2 weeks pouring over everything I can find, and nothing has fixed this issue. In short, after playing MC for anywhere from 20 minutes to 6 hours, my PC will crash with BSOD bugcheck 18. Occasionally (once or twice out of 30 crashes) it will be bugcheck 0xA0000001. Only MC causes this crash, and it has happened every single time I play MC if I play long enough. I will list the fixes I have tried, followed by all the possible relevant information. There is no crash report from MC because this is BSOD. Also the following is my system build
i5-2400
ASUS P8Z68-V LX
700W PSU OCZ700GXSSLI-B
Sapphire r9 290x vapor-x
16gb gskill ram
Fixes that did not work:
- underclocked memory and/or core clock speed of GPU
- overclocked memory and/or core clock speed of GPU
- undervolted GPU
- overvolted GPU
- run MC with/whitout other programs running
- tried amd beta drivers
- tried amd current drivers
- reinstalled MC
- reinstalled gpu drivers many times using driver cleaner
Please do not suggest that I reinstall windows 7 and then say nothing else. Obviously reinstalling might work, but I don't have the time for a reinstall now. If that is your only suggestion, just say nothing. If no one says anything to this post, then I can assume that no one has any real fix and I will reinstall later (like a month later) when I have a chance.
Also I am not using a game profile with catalyst control center. I'm going to try an OpenGL stress test as I suspect this might be an issue with minecraft's usage of OpenGL and the current catalyst drivers.
