Is there some way to delete the Forestry part of Dragon API on a mac? Doing the jar to zip to folder then deleting it and recompressing doesn't work as reika's mods don't recognise it then
help would be appreciated
The same way you do it anywhere else. Open the file with an archive manager, delete the folder.
It doesn't matter anymore, I just deleted forestry and gendustry. However there are no good jar editor programs i could see for mac which was why I was asking. Anyway this should be fixed in v3 hopefully ...
Jar files are just Zip files. You open them with ANY archive manager. WinZip, WinRAR, 7-zip, built in Windows junk, whatever floats your fancy.
If you read my above post then you would know that I am on a mac so "built in windows junk" won't work. I also know that jar files are zip files in disguise however the default mac zip tool uncompresses the file, and rezipping it means Reika's mods don't recognise Dragon API. What i didn't know was if there were any good standard archive manager tools that would work for me as all the ones i had tried thus far had only let me look at the files with our modifying them in any way.
I don't know the specifics either, but apparently removing the forestry folder from DragonAPI only makes it depend on Forestry. I.e. you have to install Forestry or DragonAPI will keep throwing "missing mod: Forestry" errors.
Also a heads up, binnie updated his mods. So I can use the latest stable Forestry, all of it's addons (binnie mods, Gendustry, Magic Bees) and Reika's mods (with deleted Forestry API).
Please tell me how to remove forestry from DrangonAPI.jar
I extracted dragapi into a folder then removed forestry from it. Then renamed the folder with .jar But when i loaded minecraft, it kept crashing! How do i do this right? Please help!
So, there aren't any normal archive managers for Mac OSX? I always use something third party like 7-zip or whatever GUI Linux tool I've got on hand. As far as I know Windows default tool is as bad as Macs.
Also if you can re-zip the modified archive can't you just as well rename it to .jar?
EDIT:
Done some searching. Whoa, are Mac users hosed for a proper freeware archive tool. I think I found all of one program that lets you edit zip files on the fly in it's free version. One more reason to never touch a Mac for me.
Now you understand
i'm getting a windows laptop soon so I can actually run decent software... the stage when you can't even find decent free archive software is the stage when you realise you need a change.
+ the re zipping process doesn't work, reika's mods don't recognise it then.
