I'm 40 and I'm helping my nine year old son with his PC, here's what we've got:
Gateway all in one PC, ZX4270, Windows 8, 64 bit, AMD E1-2500 APU with Radeon HD, 1.40 GHz
He had 4GB RAM, I upgraded it to 8 GB.
We have 32 bit Java I believe, I am concerned about upgrading to 64 bit- it it necessary and will he still be able to browse the web with no troubles?
We've tried changing editing profiles/JVM arguments in Minecraft's launcher (1.5.3) but get errors or it is ineffective. His game lags, low fps.
Are there some up to date tutorials or tips you can point me to? A lot of the information I have run across (e.g. Creating .bat files, etc.) seems to be outdated. Thanks!
Why would you have concerns about updating to 64bit? And god you seriously need to upgrade your PC. 1.40 GHz is really low. Its not that old, we just got it last Christmas. Should be plenty for minecraft anyway, right? I'll upgrade the java. How about some pointers from there?
