I downloaded the Minecraft server files from https://minecraft.net/download and followed the instructions to set it up. Once I finished the setup I was able to log in myself using "localhost" and run around the map. Its been 2 weeks now and my son finally found a friend who could try and log in from his house. SO I started the server, then the minecraft.exe and tried to log in using "localhost" again and this time I get "outdated server i'm still on 1.7.10" and I am not sure what to do now.
Any ideas on what might me causing the Connection Failed when someone else is trying to log in to my server?
I used ATTs Uverse Port Forwarding instructions to setup my Forwarded Port and rechecked it to make sure it was done correctly but when I try to verify the port using canyouseeme.org, I am told:
"Error: I could not see your service on 108.244.134.66 on port (25565)
Reason: Connection timed out"
Was the server running at the time you tested with canyouseeme?
Is your server PC's firewall configured to let remote PCs connect to port 25565?
If you had a second PC in your house you could test that remote PCs could connect to your local IP address (192.168. whatever most likely) or not, which would help isolate which part of the configuration is wrong.
Don't use your "localhost" It won't work if you have multiple servers which you seem to have. Go to your non-cracked or cracked cmd file, and type in "ipconfig"
Type in the IPv4 Adress and enjoy your sever.

FYI: I have set the EULA to TRUE during setup.
Much thanks for any help anyone can provide.
You can either downgrade to version 1.7.10, or download the 1.8 server file.
PC specs: Intel Core 2 Duo e8500 @ 3.16ghz / XFX Radeon HD 6670 2GB DDR3 / 6GB 1666MHz DDR3 RAM / Windows 7 Professional
You should create a profile in your launcher for use with servers, where you can (re)configure the version as needed. And keep a separate profile configured with a version for your son's single player saved worlds. *** Opening a save with the wrong version can lead to posts like this one: http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/support/unmodified-minecraft-client/2213668-desperate-mum-son-in-tears-please-help
If your son has upgraded to 1.8 you don't want to accidentally open any of his 1.8 saves with 1.7.10
My son asked a friend of his to try and sign on after giving him our external IP but he got a "connection failed" message.
p.s. I have done the port forwarding.

I am at a loss of what to do at this point.
