Found a post referring to the issue, didn't see it at first. Disregard post please.

I'm trying to install mods, but I can't find the folder or the .jar file.

I know it's usually under .minecraft, but it's not there in either of my installations (One on thumb drive, one on HDD).

Two questions:

Is the 1.8.jar file under the version folder the same thing?
Has anyone else had this issue, if so, how did you resolve it?
I have tried reinstalling, still no bin folder.

Just for the record, the "bin" folder no longer exists, and is replaced by a newer folder structure, as mentioned in the OP.
