Idk if this is the right place to post this but my old laptop won't run minecraft anymore and I can't find a problem with it (java is updated, minecraft updated made old slow computer crash the game) and I need to get a new laptop by Monday (I'm a T.A. in a class at school that is going to use minecraft to teach) and I need to know asap if minecraft 1.8 will work on a new windows 8.1 64 bit laptop? I've talked to people about what type of laptop I should get but all of them are windows 8.1. Will it work?
Yep, i'm running it on my xps 15 laptop with 8.1 64bit.
A huge note, and this goes to everyone with issues since 1.8. UNINSTALL ALL JAVA FIRST. i was getting horrible fps, because it was using java 32 on a 64 bit system. My cure was to uninstall all versions of java, reboot, and install ONLY the 64bit java. Now i'm seeing over 300 fps, and the game is silky smooth
