I have a fairly standard rectangular pen on flat dirt. The pen is made from spruce fence and there are no objects touching the fence except for the torches along the top. The world was generated in 1.8 with custom settings.
I've never had an issue with livestock escaping from pens in 1.7, but suddenly in 1.8 it seems to happen every time I leave the area. I never see it happen when I am there, but when I leave an come back, some will have mysteriously wandered out past the fence. The more I have in the pen, the more get out. It's as if the fence disappears briefly while I'm a long ways off, allowing the animals to calmly waltz on out of there.

I want ocean content(thanks Möjang!), nether biomes, and savanna passive mobs.
