Something has happened to my Minecraft worlds. I'm not exactly sure what's done it. I'm not really sure how to start, because I'm not sure where the problem started. Basically what happened, was that I attempted to install a shader. I followed all the instructions, and looked very carefully at them. I was trying to install Forge so that the shader would work, as it said, but I opened Minecraft to check if it was even in the game, and I was logged out of the start-up screen. I found that odd, as I'm always signed in automatically before launching Minecraft. I signed in, and the "enable experimental development versions" was unchecked, when I had it previously checked. (I was now in 1.7., when I had it in pre 1.8). When I launched it, my worlds were gone. I made it so I had the development box checked again, and launched it. Still gone. I deleted the folder with the shaders and Forge in them. Now, I understand there are many other tutorials for solving this problem. I cannot find any solution. I've read through as much as I could find that was relevant to my situation. All of it was because the computer crashed, or someone hacked them, this did not happen to me. Inside my minecraft folder, I have a folder titled "saves" and I also have "saves copy". I can see the folders with [info for] my worlds there. I tried the one solution of creating a new world, then placing the "data" and "region" bits inside that to replace it, but when I create a new world and save it, I do not see that world in the "saves" folder. That was the main suggestion everywhere, but I cannot get it to work. I also heard of re-naming a world the exact same name, that it would possibly restore it. I spent hours looking in the world, attempting to see if I found a structure I built. I can conclude that did not work either. This is the only place I can attempt to reach out for help. I can directly state my exact problem, and I'm hoping someone that knows about computers better than me can help. I'm seriously just dumb and I have no knowledge of technology and I should've never tried to install mods or anything to my game. I need to state the importance this has to me. I had a few worlds but I only really, really cared about one. I had multiple huge structures that took me weeks (on and off) to build, and some probably weren't even finished. I replicated a whole city, I had to spend so much time flattening out areas or even building mountains. It all took so long, and it feels so empty without it all. Re-making it is probably impossible with my skills and it won't be the same. It was so much time. I know it can be recovered, the files are in my computer. I see them. I just need a confirmation: can I get them back, or not? If I seriously can't, then I guess I have no choice but to rebuild. **I'm assuming this is an important detail, I'm using a Mac. I have all the current updates and everything. I've tried to install mods before but this hasn't happened. I don't even think any of those touched my game. Also, with 1.8 being officially released, I'm not going to update it incase of further corruption, if they are corrupted. (my original plan was to use the experimental development, update to 1.8 when it came out, then turn that off. I don't know if that's what screwed with me.) Please help, add anything you know that might fix this, ask any question about anything I may not have stated, ask anyone anything. I'm incredibly upset. Can u Put u World in a Compressfile (Like ZIP,RAR,ACE, 7ZIP, ...) and upload it to an Filehoster i will look for the Problem and try to fix it. (If it a world Problem).
(For Fixing it will be nice to know what Minecraft Version u use to create the world.)
I mostly used 1.7.10 I believe, and it was also in creative mode. Before I lost it I was using pre 1.8 for a few days.

I compressed everything in the folder to .zip, that's what the computer made it automatically. I uploaded it all to mediafire. how would you look at it now?

I can't compress the whole folder. There were multiple folders inside, and files inside that. I took every file and compressed them to .zip, then put them in another folder all together.

Why can't you compress the whole folder? You should be able to compress anything. That is the point of compressing.

2. Has your Game Directory the good location to start up in?

2. Start your game, open the resourcepack selector and press Open Resourcpack folder. Go back one folder and check if you are in the right folder. If you are, I don't know what has happend. If you are not, please direct your folder to the right one. (The folder where your saves folder is in)
I could. turns out I'm extremely stupid and didn't just try that. I swear this has been the most aggravating process for me and I still have no idea how it happened.

You didn't do it correctly.
Compress your world folder in ZIP before you upload.
Why can't you compress the whole folder? You should be able to compress anything. That is the point of compressing.
OK first and last time i look on a world with many files and not in ONE singel Compressd file.
