items in chest gone

i created a profile for minecrfat 1.8 to play the new update. i had a survival world. this world only had 1 mod which was optifine. when i played this world on 1.8 i decided to switch back because it was really laggy. so i went back to 1.7.9 and when i played the world i noticed that all my stuff in my inventory, chest as well as inventory had disappeared. i this a bug for 1.8 or did i do something wrong. please help i want y world back

This is not a bug. People have tried to warn people like you that all the item ID codes have been changed and are NOT BACKWARDS COMPATIBLE.
