So as we all know, 1.8 came out, and included in the long list of things, was optimization features. Better frame rates, better experience for people with lower-end computers, and more options to make the experience much more enjoyable.
Only, it's weird, because since I've played on all the snapshots (since the ones introducing the optimization features), I've gotten worse frame rates. Before any snapshot, on 1.7.10 and below, I've always had silky-smooth 30 frames per second. But now, when I try playing on 1.8, I get maybe on average 10 frames per second.
I don't necessarily want to resolve this problem (I mean I do, but that's not my major thing about this post), I just want to know: does anyone have this problem? I know my girlfriend does, who, before 1.8, maybe got 15-20 fps, which was fine for her, she just wanted to play. Now after 1.8, she gets, I kid you not, an average of maybe 2 fps.
There is something severely wrong with the "display_update" task. A quick test game showed a periodic train of freezes in this method, and I was able to get this method to take an arbitrary amount of CPU time...
EDIT: This weird display_update behavior goes away in full screen mode for me...
EDIT: It also goes away if I turn off VSYNC. So basically a VSYNC'd Window runs awful.

Picture related, it's my F3 data.
