I have smelted a LOT of iron, but I can't get the achievement, also preventing me from getting the ones beyond it, of course.

Vanilla 1.7.10 on Windows 7 Pro SP1 64-bit

Are there problems with Achievements? They seem pretty flaky for me.

Did you get the pre-requisite achievements first?

Yes, when I built the forge I got that Achievement.
