When I run around my base, game runs perfectly smooth. Everytime I go exploring new areas, it starts to stutter every 5-10 seconds, sometimes stops totally for 4-5 seconds. Here is an example what happens:
I walk away out of base, I keep walking until I reach some new land, then it stutters, lags. I spot a jungle nearby so I go to the nearest jungle tree to chop it down. I reach it, chop it down, but it still lags when I run around that spot. How is this possible when the chunk should be already loaded? I come back to base, or quarry site and it is fine.
I know this has been up already 100 times but I looked through some possible fixes with no result.
I have Optifine, so I already checked 'Smooth' chunk loading and Multi Core also. I checkec with preloaded chunks, lazy chunk loading, load far, smooth world and fps but nothing is changed.
Also what is strange, option 'Smooth World' is always OFF for me, I click it but it stays that way. I have to force it through config file to turn to ON, but I don't know if this is working due to lack of 'smoothnes' in my world.
i5 2500K 3.3ghz + 16gb RAM (8 allocated), permsize=512M, also some java argument to use all 4 cores. Checked all with and without those parameters.

you don't really need your permsize to be so large with vanilla minecraft, 128 is perfectly fine, also if you are using 1.7.10 then there is a issue with chunk loading and it's extremely bad. Even my computer is lagging and my computer is extremely good. What's your video settings? Did you get the latest version of JAVA. Also are you using JAVA 7 or 8. Java 8 isn't fully compatible with minecraft yet so I recommend using java 7. what about JAVA 32 or 64? make sure it's 64
I play 1.7.10 and use Java 7 update 45 x64, I was advised by an experienced Java developer from this forum that this is the best version to play Minecraft on.
I use about 60 mods, that's why I increased the permsize, anyway that was supposed to be a fix for the lag as well.
Video settings are: Fancy, Smooth Light max, v-sync on, opengl off, render distance normal.
Optifine settings - everything off, except smooth FPS. Chunk loading smooth. Threaded optimization disabled globally. No ambient occlusion, no antialiasing, no anisotropic filtering.

What's your graphics card? and if your are using around 60 mods I recommend using 256 permgen, not 512. Take off V-sync and put it on unlimited. V-sync is poorly implemented so it will reduce FPS for some computers. try lowering your resourcepack to 64x or 32x. The Java Developer is correct, Java 7 45 x64 is the best version to do so your fine with that. If your graphics card is bad or "decent" try taking off smooth lighting or if you can take off fancy for the extra 5-10 FPS
That Chunk Loading staying on smooth is either a result of your Cards telling it to stay that way, or just your Java version. As a rule of Thumb, even if there is a better version of Java to play on, you want to keep up to date and free of the old ones for security reasons. Just use Java 7 Update 67 64-bit for now. You are having a small problem loading blocks such as leaves, common problem thats actually pretty bad. Try using Advanced OpenGL on Fast to load only blocks you can see.

I have geforce GTX660, and I don't have FPS issues. I get constant 60 FPS with vsync on, the problem lays in worldgen, as from constant 60 FPS i stops for 3-4 seconds, then goes back to 60 FPS for 10 seconds. I recently installed FastCraft from Player, that addresses this issue directly but THEN my fps dropped so I removed it.

It is not Chunk Loading staying on Smooth, it is the 'Smooth World' option staying OFF all the time. It is a feature that, is supposed to split the worldgen into several ticks or something like that.
I'll try updated Java later and let know of the results
Updating Java to 67 seemed to greatly reduce number of lags/spikes. Big thanks. It is not yet perfect, it stops for 2 seconds randomly, from time to time. But exploring is possible for me again and not breaking my playing pleasure. Thanks again. If it gets worse again I will come back here and up the topic.

Anyone has some golden solution for this?
