How do I tell if My Mod Works

So I followed instructions from a YouTube video:

1. Download ModLoader open with WinRAR and delete MetaINF folder

2. Open My minecraft.jar file and drag modloader files into minecraft.jar

3. Get Minefantasy my mod of choice and open with WinRAR

4. Drag files into minecraft.jar file

5. And supposedly Im done

I just want to know if my mod is working and how to use it. Thaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanks in advance for helpful info
