I'm experiencing a low spawn rate in general for hostile mobs in my survival world (started in 14w30 If I remember correctly) and even now in pre3 does't seams to be fixed.
In a test world I just made (flat/creative/hard) I'm getting 30-70 entities at night and slimes are common. In my survival (always in hard) its difficult to see entities in general (slimes are practically impossible to farm and hostile mob systems are working so slow, even with most of the caves already lightened).
And probably some answers:
(1) yes, I'm in hard (not locked);
(2) the entities count sometimes not even get higher than 3;
(3) switch between difficulties sometimes make some mobs to spawn;
(4) in new chunks I get more spawn rates at first (when exploring), then after the first night, all entities do not spawn regularly (as an example, during the time I was cleaning a water temple all mobs was spawning just fine - guardians everywhere shooting from all directions -, then, when I finished and made a tank to start the farm I'm getting one or two guardians per day...). And yes, I made it right;
(5) its only for hostile mobs, all other entities are spawning just fine.
Someone know a way to fix it? Or its better just start a new word?

Looks like if you reduce the bright the rates at night get higher, but nothing I do make the game "normal". Hard to find even a zombie.
