I recently got a new gaming laptop and it has Windows 8.1 on it. I've had some problems (probably related to W 8.1) with some other games I have, but specifically related to Minecraft: when I try to play Minecraft, the game runs just fine on whatever version I try to play, but the screen flickers almost constantly. Sometimes it's the sky, sometimes it's the inventory bar, sometimes it's the item I'm holding, sometimes it's the whole screen and when I pause the game the menu buttons flicker as well. This problem persists, like I said, on whatever version, from the latest 1.7.10 version to my rather heavily modded 1.6.4 version (Forge, OptiFine, the whole deal).
Has anyone any insight as to what this problem is and how I might fix it?
Having the same issue on my gaming desktop w/ 8.1 Pro. All my drivers are up to date, still happens. Sometimes the textures become blobby purple messes. Don't know what's wrong either.

This screen flickering happens to me a lot, but only when I play the game in fullscreen mode (F11). It doesn't affect my framerate much, but it's a very distracting and annoying effect and it's been happening to me for a very long time now. The only modification I make to my Minecraft client is allocating 4096MB memory to the game instead of the typical 1GB for a little boost in performance, so I hope this still counts as a technically unmodified client.
My specs, in case it helps at all:
CPU: AMD A8-4500M @1.9GHz (2.28GHz when under load, has an AMD Radeon HD 7640G GPU with 512MB VRAM built in)
RAM: 8192MB DDR3-1600MHz
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 7670M with 1024MB VRAM
OS: Windows 8 64-bit
I'm on Catalyst Mobility driver beta 13.11. Version 14.4 has not been very kind to my computer (deleting my HDMI audio drivers, causing constant crashes with the Catalyst Control Center, reduced performance in many games, etc.) so I'm sticking with beta 13.11 by choice.
