Hi, I've had this problems on 2 computers now (this is my second) that when I click play on the minecraft launcher it starts downloading all these sounds etc. this causes minecraft to take over an hour just to open, could anyone help me with this?
When you save minecraft.exe to your computer, that is just the tiny bit of code called the 'bootstrap'.
When you run that, it looks at what launcher (if any) that you have and it downloads it (or an update of it) if necessary.
Then when you hit Play the launcher determines which version you are trying to play and downloads that if necessary.
You can't avoid the need for downloading the game files to your computer. [Although you can make it worse by for example deleting the files previously downloaded, requiring them to be downloaded again]
If it is taking an hour then your internet connection must be very poor indeed. You might want to do the downloads while connected to a faster connection.
