This thread is for problems with updating.



Here is my problem. When minecraft 1.7 came out, my computer refused to update to it. I can load up the main menu, then I can open up a world. But the screen goes blank. Then it says "Minecraft is not responding" and I have to open up task manager and close it. Here are some stats about my computer,

• It runs on windows vista
• It has 6GB of RAM.
• It is a 64bit operating system.

1.6 works perfectly, but 1.7 does not.

WAIT A SECOND. 6MB of RAM? You mean 6GB don't you?

BTW, mind posting the crash report?

Also, i think it may be because of Vista I had Vista and it.. kinda.. sucked at playing games.

1. Minecraft requires atleast 512mb of Ram
2. What Graphics card do you use?
3. What CPU and what speed is it?
4. How much FPS do you get in 1.6?

1. Yep I have 6GB not MB that was a stupid typo on my behalf.

3. I think you're asking for what model it is. It says that it is called an "Inspiron 530"

4. With fancy graphics on, render distance at far and at maximum chunks. I get between 30-75 fps.

Since your on windows vista

Goto your Start Menu.
Right Click My Computer
Select Properties

Then tell me all the infomation you see there.

Your problem could be one of two things

1. your computer isnt strong enough (i dont think this is the case)
2. due to connection issues or bugs the version didnt install correctly

If #2 is the case (which i think is most likely) i would recommend re installing your launcher. If you would like to save your worlds you can go to C:\Users\*your pc username*\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\saves

The first thing I did when the update came out was re install my launcher. So this is did not fix it.

Okay i need you to press these two buttons on your keyboard [WindowsButton] + [R] then type "%appdata%" without quotes and click enter. Then goto .minecraft and delete it. If you have worlds you want to backup go into the .minecraft folder click and drag the saves folder onto your desktop. Then run the launcher and click play. It should automatically re-install it from there. Let me know if this works.
