So, I've been playing Minecraft lately and have been having lag issues.
No, it's not online, and no its not fps.
I run a few mods, thaum craft, better dungeons, blood magic, rogue like dungeons, divine rpg, and a fee others.
However, lately when I open a chest, or move, I will just sit there, then suddenly the chest will appear on my screen, or I will be a few blocks away from where I started. It happens when breaking blocks too. This happens with other mods and vanilla Minecraft.
However, the odd thing is, I'm always sitting between 25 and 30 fps and there are no sudden drops, just lag.

Lag as in video lag.
It's like the fps drops to 0 for two to three seconds, and everything goes still, then goes back to normal. . This happens every 10 seconds or so, and watching the fps, it doesn't drop during these lag spikes.
It could be because it's freezing, you don't see the FPS count drop to the actual number, as when something freezes, nothing moves, not even numbers.

I don't think so, you just have to let it run it's course, because it'll stop eventually.

Do you have the same issue when you're not using any mods?
I don't play vanilla Minecraft anymore so I don't notice it. I do notice that the longer I play the same world the more it does this lag.
Also, it's not chunks loading, because it still happens when standing perfectly still. I only know this because of the opening/closing of chests and inventory.
This is a common server side issue, but you may be working on a computer with a core not strong enough to constantly load the chunks. What are your computer specifications?

Pretty much everything with a screen has a graphics card.
And it seems entities are causing a slowdown. A lot of mods add machines or other features that are internally coded as entities. They might cause a lot of lag.
I wanted to say the same thing, but it wouldn't have been very nice the way I said it.
I decided to update to 1.7.10, and the lag seems to be much better. I think it might have been a mod that I had active that was causing it.
If I recall correctly Divine RPG has some lag issues. I'm not sure about the new revamped Thaumcraft though. It used to be fine but I'm not sure how it is now.
Yes, I believe that Divine RPS is what was probably causing the lag issue. I haven't been lagging as much now. I do lag when loading too many chunks too quickly on trips that are far from my base.
Also, I can confirm, that Thaumcraft doesn't add any lag. I just wish that some one would update Ars Magica...

Does anyone know what could be causing this?

I have an i5 processor, an amd radeon (forgot the type) graphics card, 4 gigs of ram....
I'll post the rest of it once I get home XD.
That's not a bad computer for Minecraft... try either reinstalling or downloading a mod called Optifine. It improves chunk loading and performance.

I will play on it for a little bit, and see if this number changes.
I also noticed monsters cause my game to lag horribly. I was lagging terribly, I put it on peaceful, all monsters vanished, and I stopped lagging.
