I had posted a similar topic earlier, but since then I had to have my computer repaired and lost everything. I thought maybe the screen problem would be fixed, but now it is worse. Occasionally the screen will turn purple and I won't be able to do anything for a few moments.
I would also like to mention my previous problem was never resolved.

Huh.
I assume you know how to get to your .minecraft folder. if you don't, google it.
Okay, save the Servers.dat and the Launcher_profiles.json. (move them to desktop / copy them.) I also suggest to copy your entire .minecraft folder and back it up onto your desktop.
Delete your .minecraft folder, AFTER you have backed up .minecraft, servers.dat, and launcher_profiles.json.
Next, go too https://minecraft.net/downloads and get minecraft for Linux / other. (it's not going to hurt your computer, it's just a jar file, same as minecraft.exe. [That means it's just not compressed to an .exe form, so linux or other operating systems can run it]) Run it.
Wait untill it finishes download minecraft and all of the files, then you can replace your servers.dat and Launcher_Profiles.json, and you have not lost your account(s) or your servers.
That should fix it. I also have a feeling your graphic cards might not be working well.... I suggest A LOT of research on cards. (usually it's only advanced users who deal with those, and you can REALLY screw up your PC if you do it wrong!!!!)
