An issue I've experienced recently with looking into modpacks is that, even when I can get an average of 80-120 FPS when playing, I'll experience heavy spikes of FPS, sometimes enough to cause the game to seem like its frozen. Time between these spikes can vary from literally minutes to half an hour+. I have 1.5 GB allocated, and it and usage fluctuates between 20-70% depending on what I'm doing.
I never experience these FPS spikes during vanilla gameplay, even with hours into it at a time. It kinda kills the motivation to play MC at this rate because vanilla grows dull and mods are the only thing really keeping my interested in the game itself. I'm already assuming the main issue is with my CPU, as I'm just wondering if there's anything I can do to either lessen the load on it or a potential fix to the situation.
I play mainly on 1.6.4. Sometimes 1.7.2. I can get around 30 mods before the actual spikes begin to really show up. The current modpack I use has 70 mods, and the spikes seem to happen at random. Lasting between 30 seconds to 2-3 minutes.
