When I open up my profile to add more mem, instead of "-Xmx1G", is have this in that box, "Xmx1G -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC -XX:+CMSIncrementalMode -XX:-UseAdaptiveSizePolicy -Xmn128M". If i edit anything in it, minecraft will not open and gives me this error,
"Error: Could not create the Java Virtual Machine
Error: A fatal exception has occurred. Program will exit."
In game when I don't edit anything, The F3 menu says I only have half a Gig allocated. What can I do to fix this?
It sounds like you have a 32 bit version of java installed, but we'll need to see the dev console to be sure.
Also, 500 MB should be enough to run vanilla minecraft, and increasing the ram will not improve performance unless you are crashing from running out of memory.
I didn't mean the snapshots only use that form of memory allocation. Since they started working on the snapshots every version that you create will use that form. And I have 32 bit java and I have no problems launching.

I made my own shader pack, by the way.
