I have a strange issue... I have mined the same chunk at least three times in the underbelly of my base. Every time I reload the game it reverts back to its original state. Well, sort of -- the game still recognizes the blocks I have added if I mine them out (or tap them with a pickaxe). In addition, if I re-mine the bricks, no drops fall out. (My pick still takes damage though, and I can't walk through the blocks).
I've tried correcting the problem by deleting the chunk in mcedit. No joy. The chunk still reloads on restart.
I'm not sure if the above makes sense, so I made a quick video:
I took this vid after reloading the chunk via mcedit, so there's no record of my changes in there. I show some of the characteristic behavior of this weird chunk. Since I couldn't find a way to talk over it, here's an explanation of what I'm doing. Please forgive this low budget first ever minecraft vid of mine.
As the shot opens, you can see the nice double-plus chunk hangar I've mined out and lined with diorite, granite, and appropriate lighting. As I walk around though you'll see the original wall that I have destroyed over and over again now. Floor to far up ceiling, this looks exactly like it did the first time around -- dirt, gravel, andesite, and all.
Next I show some of the weirdness. I mine out nine blocks and replace some with diorite. I log out and back in again -- and after the fraction of a second that everything seems to be okay, the diorite vanishes, and the original stone is back.
Next, I just lightly tap the stones, and they magically revert back to diorite. (Of course, I have an Efficiency V pick of doom, so some of those light taps actually destroy and drop the diorite, but same difference).
Next, I remove the diorite leaving an empty gap. Log out and back in again, and voila! Stone is back. Only, when I mine out the stones that shouldn't really exist, they don't drop anything. I pull open my inventory before and after mining to show that I'm not picking up any stones (until I take that extra one at the top to show I can still pick things up).
I honestly probably don't need this corner of my hangar too much for my next big redstone build I'm going to put on the floor, but I'm concerned -- are more of my chunks going to have this problem? And besides, it's just annoying and messes with the symmetry, aesthetics, and lighting of the place. Is this a known issue or is there something I might be able to do to correct this once and for all?
If it matters in any way, yes I believe this is one of the spawn chunks not at all far from my original spawn point.
If it helps, I am betting this error corresponds to this error in the logs:
[10:50:53] [Server thread/ERROR]: Chunk file at 0,4 is in the wrong location; relocating. (Expected 0, 4, got 0, 12)
[10:50:53] [Server thread/ERROR]: Chunk file at 1,5 is in the wrong location; relocating. (Expected 1, 5, got 5, 10)
[10:50:53] [Server thread/ERROR]: Chunk file at 2,5 is in the wrong location; relocating. (Expected 2, 5, got 3, 17)
What do I do???
