Alright, I apologize in advance but I'm a big idiot so please explain this to me like I were five. I've tried googling this issue but can't find a solution for this particular issue.
So, my computer crashed while playing the Yogscast/Resonant Rise pack by ATLauncher. World gone from the playable worlds list. I know, I know, I should have backed it up. Again, big idiot.
Look in the saves file and see that my world is still there in the file. So, I try starting a new world, then gutting the level.dat, level_old.dat, level_mcr.dat, and session.lock files from that new world, and replacing them with those files from the old, corrupted world.
However, upon doing that I find that the level_old.dat from the corrupted world is missing. Missing in every back up I made for it after the crash so it must have been deleted as a result of the crash. Try to launch the game without the level_old.dat file and of course, the new world isn't in the playable worlds list. So, as a last ditch effort, I put in the original level_old.dat file from the new world alongside the level.dat, session.lock and the level_mcr.dat file from the corrupted world and launch the game.
The world launches fine but I can't tell if it's actually my old, corrupted world or not. I tried flying to what would have been the coordinates for my settlement and no surprise, it was entirely different.
So is there a way to recover the old corrupted world? Or is the missing level_old.dat file a death sentence?
I can't say you if it´s recoverable or not, I can just say you I understand your sadness because I lived the same situation 5 days ago With another modpack. Unfortunatly for me, it was so recoverable...
Be strong, guy.
Haha, thank you for the solidarity. Crossing my fingers it's not lost forever. But even if it is, worst comes to worst, I start a new game and spend an hour or so spawning in the things I had up until that point.

Thank you for your time.
