Hi all, I was wondering if anyone could help me with my problem.
The problem is that Minecraft ran perfectly on my desktop until about a year ago when I started getting frame-rate issues. I have a fairly beefy computer, my specs will be at the bottom, and I was able to get 200-250 FPS before the issues. About a year ago the frame rate dropped from 200-250 to an average of 10. It made the game unplayable and I just left Minecraft for about two months. Two months later I decided to try again and was met with the same 10 FPS average and I tried EVERYTHING in the settings. Nothing seemed to work or do anything. I left Minecraft for four more months.
Then, after four months of nothing but Terraria and Battlefield 3, I tried Minecraft again. It won't even open now! All I get when I click on the Minecraft shortcut OR the Minecraft file is a pop-up that says, "Are you sure you want to run this file?" I obviously click "Yes", because clicking "No" returns me back to the Desktop. The computer thinks for 1-2 seconds and the only change is that the pop-up goes away and "javaw.exe" opens in the task manager and closes 1-2 seconds after. The launcher doesn't start.
I have dedicated nearly all the RAM my computer has to offer, that's 4 gb's and I've dedicated 3.5 gb's. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I have tried purging everything related to Minecraft off my computer including Java and nothing seems to work. It's also worth noting I have upgraded my Graphics Card recently to accommodate larger games but the issues started before installing it.
Does anyone know what I should do? Should I just build a new computer?
I was looking into your issue, you might perhaps have to re-install Java, Minecraft is a game constructed on the java platform. so pretty big change java isn't running properly. If that does not work, attempt to launch it with administrator privileges. ( Right click > run as administrator ). Then again, if that doesn't work, trying removing your .minecraft folder, you might want to backup your important stuff. ( Server.dat, worldsaves...) After this has been done, uninstall Minecraft, then go ahead and re-install it. After that restart your PC. I'm sure you can do some more research on your own aswell.
