Yes, I know, there are many forums and posts and all that fun stuff with explanations to this error... Sortof. I've been playing with 3 friends on my friend's realm for about a week or so now. I'll provide a list of what I've tried in a moment. This is annoying as the chance of connecting to the realm is random and is with all realms.
Here's a list of things I've tried.
Removing firewalls, both private and public at once and trying removing them seperately.
Using the UCD and ICP with port 25565 (Not sure if thats exactly what they're called.)
Restarting my computer, as that normally fixes errors for me
Trying to connect with an alternate account
Allowing all of java to pass the firewall (I think that's what it is. I'm not a coder or programmer so I'm unsure about a bit of this.)
If you are a coder, I'd prefer if you could explain to me what the error is/can be here. I know that alot of people who have this problem run their own servers using port forwarding or hamachi or Evolve or whatever else is out there for free servers that you can host. Alot of the people on those threads ended up buying a server from a hosting company or restarting theirs. Well mojang doesn't do that Anyhow, this has been preventing me from playing today and I'll be working on it tomorrow.
Please help <3

It's an annoying, but unsolved problem. You've tried pretty much every known fix, except deleting all copies of the word "minecraft" from your System32/drivers/etc/hosts file in Notepad (but even that only works in some cases).
Like Krixus said, though, the problem does sometimes seem to go away on its own (though you'll never be rid of it for good).

Please check out "The Law Man", a short e-book written by a friend of mine, and available for download here. (It's really good! Also, hooray for product placement!)

(On trying to connect to a realms server) java.net.ConnectException connection timed out: no further information
The problem fixed itself a week ago and came back last night.
