Hey all, I'm a computer tech by trade and this one has me stumped.
I recently started playing on a mate's realm server. My girlfriend plays on the same server with her laptop via wifi to our modem and can play all day. I can connect my laptop to our modem via wifi and play all day. The moment I play on my PC via ethernet to the same modem I can't play for more than 1-5mins without losing connection with the message "timed out".
I thought it might be mods on my PC so I went back to a vanilla install and the problem was still there. My GF suggested trying to connect to the exact same modem but with a USB wifi card and sure enough it works fine.
I have been connected via ethernet for years without any issues in any other program, and I still use the ethernet for general stuff. I just need to change to wifi the moment I want to play MC and would rather not. I've also tested with a new ethernet cable plugging straight into the modem (bypassing my switch).

Any ideas?
Does you ethernet connection lose all connectivity, or is it just the MC session?
