So, my sister and I are wanting to play on a LAN server with a modpack. When I host the LAN server, it will not show up in my sister's multiplayer menu. Any help fixing this is appreciated
(I am running Ubuntu 14.04 and my sister is using Windows 8)
Do you have fixed IPs? I would strongly recommend getting them, but if you don't, follow these steps. Usually, your sister should be able to detect it, but as this is not the case, you can do this:
3. Once you have the ip, start up the LAN server, then ask your sister to direct connect to that IP:theportgiventoyouinchat.
Your sister should be connecting to something like this: 192.168.1.1:55763 (Note: this is just an example, your internal IP should be similar).

1. Open a Terminal/Command Prompt on Ubuntu.
2. Follow steps 1-5 here: http://www.wikihow.com/Find-Your-Internal-IP-in-Ubuntu (Note, for wireless, instead of lo or eth0, it should be wlan0.)
