I am helping my son set up some mods, and it told us we needed the new installer. I have downloaded 1.6 installer from Minecraft, PC version, but every time we run it still says it is the 1.5 version. What are we doing wrong?
I believe you're getting confused between the launcher version and the minecraft version. The 1.6 launcher isn't really what the new launcher should be called, 1.6 was just the first minecraft version to require it. As of this posting the minecraft launcher version is currently 1.5.1, while the game version is 1.7.10. If you're seeing "Minecraft Launcher 1.5.1" then nothing is wrong. You've just confused the two different things.
