I'm looking to increase my FPS and continue using Shaders, any advice?

My system:

Windows 8.1

Intel Core i5-4440 @ 3.1GHz

8GB RAM @ 1600MHz

MSi Radeo R9 280x OC Edition



I'm playing on 1.7.5 because that's the version my friend's server is running on. I'm using Optifine as well.

I get on average 40fps, but would like to get something around 60+. Would this be possible with my setup?

FPS differs on what kind of shaderpack you are using.

20fps might be too much.. You can boost 5-10 fps by turning CloudShadow to OFF and tweakBlockDamage to ON.

I'm running a very similar system, and it only drops below 60fps in really busy / built-up areas on my server (at 8 chunk render).

But before I discovered the JVM arguments shown here, performance was a lot worse.

Also update Java, try different Optifine settings, and other general PC performance tips.



Oh I almost forgot, the GPU drivers that work best for shaders on my 280X Toxic are AMD-Catalyst-14.7-RC1-Windows-July9 (windows 7 64-bit)
