I used to play some modpacks w/ OptiFine in medium-to-low video config. I was playing Hexxit with no lag, then I entered that biome with lots of tall trees, graphics on Fancy, the game would just lag a little bit but I then lowered render distance. I quit Minecraft, the next time I entered the game it would just lag A LOT, with the lowerest config. possible. I noticed that The Sims 3 had all the config. reset and sometimes would crash, but this stopped to happen days after. The Minecraft problem continues, however. It happens to all the modpacks that I play now. How can I fix it?
Not? How about exit applications you don't need or defragment your hard drive?
Defragmenting your hard drive doesn't give you performance during a running application. It will only help load times, nothing more. If the application is running, it has already loaded into memory, meaning no more or very few hard drive accesses.
