Hey, guys! I am having some problems with allocating more memory. I have two computers and I have been able to add more memory just fine, but my roommate has a brand new Alienware and I cannot figure it out for the life of me. He has 8GB of ram and I made sure that he has 64-bit Java installed. I even uninstalled every version of Java and then manually installed it again, but still no luck. 512MB seems to be the cap and I cannot figure out why. I also tried to configure Java itself and that didn't work. I only want to increase it to 1GB because when we play mods, his systems lags a tiny bit. Any ideas? Thanks for the help in advance! :-)
P.S. Here is the message that the launcher gives me when I try to increase the memory.
Error occurred during initialization of VM Incompatible minimum and maximum heap sizes specified Picked up _JAVA_OPTIONS: -Xmx512M
Hmmmm... I have this error too. Although I know what is causing this error (I think, and I may be wrong); Java seems like it has a default 512m and allocating more ram contradicts the initial Java settings, but even when I edited it, this error still occurs.

Make a bat & put this inside of it
Obviously direct the name to wherever your minecraft jar is (it HAS to be jar, not exe, if he doesn't have a .jar he can download it at minecraft.net)
