I'm currently playing FTB Monster single player and I've been dealing with this issue for a while. My game seems to function normal, I have a solid 60fps with Vsync, I can move around fine and I can break and place blocks with no delays. But for some reason all of the game mechanics seem to be on a cycle of freezing and playing where it will work fine for about 2 seconds but then it will freeze for one second and repeat. For example my Quarry will mine a few blocks the freeze, mobs will walk for 2 seconds then freeze, machines will work for two seconds and freeze, and all of the freezing and stopping is synced together so I know its not just one aspect of the game. I've researched this problem by looking at various forum posts to YouTube videos and there seems to be about as many fixes to the problem as there are people complaining about it. I've seeming tried everything I could find but to no avail, here is what I've done:
Made sure my game isn't auto saving every 2 seconds (its not the lag spike of death, I have it set to 3min)
Given it more ram (was at 2GB increased it to 3 then to 4GB no change so I put it back down to 2GB)
Prioritized it in task manager
Set affinity to only one CPU in task manager
Installed optifine
Lowered in-game graphics settings
Uninstalled and Re-installed Java
Made sure my drivers were up to date
Checked "Use Optimization Arguments for Fast Computers?"
And so far none of this has worked (although it has seemed to work for a lot of other people). The only thing I've heard of and not tried is setting up my own local multiplier server and testing it on there. Sorry that I had to make a post about a problem many people have already asked about, I really wanted to avoid to but this is what its come down to. An image of my F3 screen is attached.
Why would you set the affinity to only one CPU? Is your computer 64 bit? Please provide a dxdiag log:
1. Search DxDiag.exe in the search bar and hit enter.
2. If there is a button telling you to run 64 bit DxDiag, click that.
3. Click Save All Information and save the output to a location of your choice.
4. Provide the contents of that log in your next post.
