Hey ive been having this issues sense the beginning of time. it happens in Vanilla as well as modded, but its much more noticeable in modded.
i have:
windows 7
Java 64
2GB of ram
AMD Athlon 64 X2 duel core processor 5000+
NVIDIA GeForce 8400GS
what happens, is that my memory usage gradually increases, at the same time so does my FPS. once the memory usage reaches EXACTLY 800 MB, then the game freezes for about half a second FPS drops to 0-2 fps, and the memory usage lowers to around 710MB and starts over. My FPS will reach around 60-77 frames doing one "cycle" each cycle takes around 10 second. needless to say this is madding, it stresses me out to no end and hurts my head after a while. i've tried a wide variety of things to help, nothing has. Ym starting to think my old PC just cant handle the mods, or minecraft in general lately.
i have some pictures to help understand. as you can see i had to use print screen instead of the normal F2 due to the nature of what is wrong. This first picture if of normal game play, this about 2 seconds after the FPS drop. at this point i can place, break, and move around flawlessly. FPS and Memory increase over time
Next picture is when the memory usage reaches EXACTLY 800MB. it never goes over and the game freezes for rougly one second at this point
Finally, this is roundly one second after the Memory usage reaches 800MB and the game freezes. FPS drops to 0-2 and the memory usage restarts at 710MB
Changing settings BARELY affects this issue. putting everything on lowest settings causes the memory usage to reach 800MB almost unnoticeably slower. However using full screen or a bigger window drastically increases the rate that it reaches 800MB. id love some help on this ^^ please before i go insane. i can provide a list of mods in necessary, however this is an issue with Vanilla as well. its simply more noticeable on modded.
Okay, this will go smoother if I just ask this now. Can you post your dxdiag log contents (search dxdiag.exe, save all information) in your next post?

Lets try allocating 1024MB RAM to it. Also, Can you make sure that Java 7 Update 65 964-bit) is the only Java version on your computer? Use these JVM arguments:
JVM arguments can be found in Edit Profiles, JVM arguments (Make sure to check the tickbox next to it.)
