my computer isn't to good at running minecraft with only 1 gygabyte of ram . i used to be able to add an extra gigabyte to it through jvm arguments. now though when i try to change it at all this message pops up. " error: could not create java virtual machine. error: a fatal exception has occurred. program will exit.'' so know i have major lag a frame loss.
The only solution would be to buy a new computer. The only reason this probably worked was pure luck with programs not using it. If you want to reduce lag do CRTL ALT DLT and click on start task manager and find javaw.exe. There may be two of them. Right click on them and press Set Priority and then high. You can also turn your render distance down, put particles to minimal and download optifine and set all of the settings to the faster ones. You can also type RAM into the start menu, click enter, and then click on Remote Access and then it will open a new window. Click on the advanced tab and then click on "Optimize for best performance. Yes this does make your computer look crappy but it helps quite a bit. I have Razer game booster which you can download here-> www.razerzone.com/game booster. I hoped this helped and if it did an up vote would be very appreciated

Please note that you can only allocate more than 1.5gb of RAM if you have 64-bit Java installed.
Also it would be preferable to have the 32-bit and 64-bit installed
