I am unable to log into the Minecraft launcher. When I open it up, the message "welcome guest! please log in" is viewable in the lower right, but there is nowhere to enter my user information. The Play button is greyed out & the Switch User button does not do anything. I have deleted & reinstalled, rebooted several times, uninstalled Java & reinstalled & nothing seems to work. FYI, I am running windows 8. Any suggestions?
You may need to reinstall the locally installed files that Minecraft puts into place.
To do so, press your Windows+R keys, type in %AppData% at the dialog, and press Enter. In the window that appears, open the .minecraft directory, and delete everything except for the saves directory that you see therein.
