Hey there Forums, I have been trying to figure out this problem for a couple months now to be honest. I haven't played Minecraft on PC in that time because I've been so angry that I cannot fix this issue. It does this in both Vanilla and Modded Minecraft.
What happens, is that MOST of the time when i'm playing, it'll work fine, but as soon as I click out of Minecraft to change a screen on my other monitor, then go back to Minecraft, it freezes up, and tells me that the Java Platform SE Binary is not responding. I have tried following other similar threads to discover the issue, but I've had no luck.
Here are the things that I have done:
Updated my Video Driver
Reinstalled Java
Reinstalled Minecraft
I never had this problem with Windows 7, nor did I after I updated to Windows 8.1. The problem just seemed to... appear.
I have no idea what is going on, and it's actually really frustrating. I recently started a server with friends and it's very annoying when the game crashes every few minutes due to this issue.
If anyone has any idea on how to help, please let me know. Thank you so much!

Hi,
When Minecraft hangs (or goes "Not Responding"), please see this guide to give us the memory dump when the issue happens.
Also, please give us any Event Log entries when the issue happens.
If the launcher re-opens, do the following;
We need to see what is in your Development Console, which can be found on the second tab of the launcher.
First, copy all of the text (right click on any empty space, press "Copy All Text").
Then, go to http://paste.ubuntu.com/ and paste it. Click 'Create Paste', then share with us the link (the URL) that it takes you to.
