Update: If you press "Edit Profile" -> "Open Game Dir", close the launcher, delete "launcher_profiles.json" - then try running Minecraft again.
Are you able to press the "Development Console" tab?
If so, please do the following;
We need to see what is in your Development Console, which can be found on the second tab of the launcher.
First, copy all of the text (right click on any empty space, press "Copy All Text").
Then, go to http://paste.ubuntu.com/ and paste it. Click 'Create Paste', then share with us the link (the URL) that it takes you to.
Also, then completely uninstall Java from your computer through your Control Panel's "Add and Remove Programs" section. Try running Minecraft afterward, and it should give an error, or nothing should happen.
Go to https://jdk8.java.net/download.html -- install Windows 64-bit JRE (or 32-bit if you are on a 32-bit PC). Afterwards, try running Minecraft and see if the error persists.
