I have been running my max memory from 40-100 percent with my memory usage staying below the max memory allocated. This has granted a lag-free experience that has enabled me to average 80 FPS on a normal world with max settings and an average of 40-50 on big servers like Mineplex and the Hive. I was building a ship for a server using the server texture pack in a flatland world using worldedit in the liteloader modloader for 1.7.2. To also have the texture pack, I used mcpatcher on the liteloader profile. Ever since then, my minecraft has been stuck at 63% percent allocated memory, and the memory usage has been floating around 20%. This has cause EXTREME lag even at minimum settings of 2 render distance, fast graphics and no smooth lighting. Did the combination of mcpatcher and liteloader cause this? are the two unrelated? I really need help here...

Texture packs (now known as resource packs) increase the amount of memory used by Minecraft, especially if the resource pack's resolution is bigger than 32 x 32.
All of them. I think I actually found the problem; I got skype recently and I noticed that when I completely closed it the minecraft was able to allocate the memory it needed. problem solved I guess; I'm back to my previous status of 40-70 fps. I guess I should close skype more often. Thanks for the help!

What is your resource pack's resolution?
