So I updated it just like the title says. I was playing the 14w28b snapshot (14w29b to 14w30c was lagging much worse before and after I updated Java, so switching to 14w30c isn't going to help). I ran CCleaner, checked for PC updates, and restarted my computer, but it didn't help. I haven't changed any in-game settings or launcher profile settings either, I was playing just fine before I updated Java.
Minecraft rendering dramatically changed to increase performance and only render what the client can actually see. That should (in theory) boost your FPS, if it doesn't, give us a screenshot of the F3 screen.
Also disable Clouds in your video settings if not already.

I don't understand it, but I tried the most recent snapshot and it worked faster. The weird thing is that snapshot was lagging worse before and after I updated Java. I'll attach screenshots though. I tried turning off clouds, but that didn't make a difference, and 14w30c works fine with clouds now. 14w30c still lags when placing blocks sometimes though. 14w30b had a problem with light showing up right away when placing a torch, but 14w30c isn't having that problem.
14w30c fixed some bugs along with lighting issues. Clouds, though they may not look like it take a chunk of your FPS away as they are not optimized.
Java very rarely is to blame, all it really does it interpret Minecraft's code and make your computer do something with it. Your GPU, and CPU are the ones that do the work computing and rendering the actual game. The game code may make the rendering and computing more optimal, but Java has nothing to do with it.

Wow, 20% of the FPS. I guess I will turn those off then. Thanks for the help.
I recently just downloaded forge for 1.7.10 and me and my brother were trying to play on pan together but we couldn't get it to work. i checked on his snooper settings and his java version on the mac was 1.6 and mine was at 1.7. I've done loads to try and help solve this but the client refuses to change or update the version number. Please help me solve my problem I've been at this for hours...

Curse PremiumPlease define "Minecraft is lagging".

I think you need to ask this in the "moddified client support": http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/support/modded-client-support it's kind of weird that you didn't post this as your own question, but posted in my question instead.
