When I try to log on to a game setup on Lan I get this message java.net.connectexception: connection timed out.
Everybody in our house has your paid for version of Minecraft 1.7.10 and has the same problem, they cannot log on to a Lan game I think this is a bug in the code, as we all had Lan games working in 1.7.9.
We all have no problem playing realms and on other servers over the net, be nice to be able to play Lan.
Hi, Neilsland. I was trying to set up the LAN connection for my boys today (have two paid accounts for them), but it wouldn't work. Here's what worked for us on our home network with Windows PCs:
On BOTH computers, I went to Control Panel - Systems and Security - Windows Firewall - Allow a program or feature through Windows Firewall.
I clicked on the "Allow another program..." and added Minecraft (you'll likely have to click the "Browse.." button and find the Minecraft program icon...might be on your desktop).
I also had to make sure that Java was allowed through the firewall (it should already be in your list of programs in the "Allow programs to communicate through Windows Firewall" window).
It was essential that the "Name," "Home/Work (Private)," and "Public" boxes in the list of programs were checked for BOTH Java and Minecraft identically on BOTH machines.
Once we did that, the LAN thing worked flawlessly. Okay, good luck.
