Okay so something really weird has been going on and I can't explain it. I play with snapshots on in my world and after the latest snapshot got downloaded (the one before the most recent one with banners) when i would break a block there would be lag. So I unchecked the "use latest snapshot" check box in the client. When I booted up my world after I did my chest's inventories were gone. I figured this was probably a normal side effect of reverting back so I grabbed the backup off of my computer and loaded it in the client...but the inventories were gone out of that world as well even though the back up was made over a week ago. I figured there was a problem with my client so i downloaded the client onto another computer and grabbed my usb thumb drive which also has another back up of the same world from about two weeks ago before this happened, and loaded it up...but it was exactly the same. So my question is how on earth is this possible, and what's the fix? The world on my usb drive has to be fine since when I moved it there the world's inventories were fine, and now suddenly they're not. Did the newest update delete the inventories of chests? Seems unlikely but that's all I've got. Some light shed on this would be greatly appreciated.
The new snapshots store inventory and chest items differently from older releases. When reverting back, the older release is unable to read the new format, so all your items are lost.
