My daughter was recently given a fairly old MacBook. We installed Minecraft, and it worked... albeit slowly. We recently updated to OS 10.6.8 (the last version to run on this computer). And now Minecraft won't start up. The launcher starts. We hit "Play." Then it quits, and the launcher restarts. There is no error message. We tried switching to older versions of Minecraft by editing her profile. But it didn't work. Same thing keeps happening.

Any ideas? I don't play Minecraft, so I'm clueless. Thank you!

This may not work but try reinstalling minecraft.

I tried deleting the program and reinstalling it. Same problem!

How do I get the developer console log? I'll go try to figure that out...

I did update everything! The folks at the Apple store installed the major upgrade. Minecraft then did not work. When I got home, I did exactly what you said... Software Update, thinking it might solve the problem. It didn't.

I will try it again now that I've downloaded Minecraft again.

OK, I did a java update... and that worked!!!!!!
