Minecraft wont open!

Hi, Im trying to install minecraft on my brothers computer, i double clicked the minecraft shortcut but it didn't do anything. then i went to .minecraft and there were no files in it. im not sure what to do, i tried reinstalling minecraft and java that didn't work. i hope this makes sense. thanks

try deleting the .minecraft file and then reinstalling minecraft then. also make sure it java version 6 32 bit

Please remove all versions of Java from the machine. Restart the computer, then grab the latest here
http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

Please grab the 64-bit version if you have a 64-bit computer.
