Hey Minecrafters! So Im a very recent convert to Minecraft. I have only been playing for about 6 days now (version 1.7.10) but I find myself burning through Vanilla very quickly. SO with everyone talking about how awesome Tinkers Construct is, I thought screw it, I will give it a go.
So I have installed Tinkers Construct 1.7.10 along with Forge, Voxel and Mantle (All 1.7.10), Everything seems to be going fine, Im crafting my own Obsidien tools, mixing up and stacking Redstone on them till the cows come home. However I want the big boy tools, I want my mining hammer! So I ventured to the Nether to fetch the Cobalt and stuff, only to find I need a Level 4 pickaxe to mine it, I currently have a level 3. So I quietly swore under my breath and returned to mine the Aluminum and required ores for the level 4 pick axe.
And thats where I come to a screeching halt. 6 Hours straight of mining and I have found not one Aluminum Ore. No Copper.... No Tin.... Nothing... When I was in the nether, there was Cobalt and Ardite everywhere! But in the overworld, I cant find anything!!!! I have mined all depths (y axis) ranging from 10-60 finding absolutely everything apart from Aluminum, Tin, Copper and the Berry Bushes.
So I am convinced in all my epic scrubness, I'm missing the punchline, Do these mods not work in 1.7.10? Are these actually minable ores underground or obtained another way? Am I missing another mod? Am I looking in the wrong place? Can someone please help a humble noob??
Yes it was, I started this world, then added the mods the next day.
So I have to start a new world with the mods installed for the Ores to be there? I think I understand now... I started the world before I installed the mods, But I never went to the Nether in this generated world until AFTER I installed the mods. Would this be why the Tinkers construct Ores appear in the Nether, but not in the overworld?
You can start a new world and the ores will be there, but if you don't want to loose the world you have, you can go out a long distance until you find new terrain. I would recommend using nether portals to make traveling easier.
Ok I might try the new terrain thing. I do have an epic location that I dont want to lose lol. How far would you think is required for the Ores to generate?
Besides using the Nether Portal to go to the Nether and back I have never used them for travelling yet.
Depends how far you've explored. If you've stuck to one area to build your base in, you won't have to go far. If you've traveled thousands of blocks in all directions, you'll have to go a bit further.
Basically, terrain will generate around you in a large area. If you move to a new location, terrain will generate around that location as well. Everywhere you've explored will generate ores from whatever you have installed. Once you have a large area mapped out, modded ores will not spawn in that area. Now, if you go somewhere you've never been before, new terrain will spawn around that area too, and this terrain, just like before, will spawn whatever ores from whatever mods you have installed. This means tinker's construct ores will spawn everywhere that you haven't been before.

Thanks for your time :-)

I made my own shader pack, by the way.

I actually stayed at very close to my original spawn location and havent gone far at all, havent even looked for a village yet so this is good news.
Thanks for your help bro! I really appreciate it. The only thing I regret is not starting on Minecraft earlier!
