I've been playing minecraft with 32 bit java, but I want to use 64 bit. I went to Java's website and downloaded the 64 bit java, but now whenever I try to launch minecraft, it crashes before the launcher even comes up and does not generate a crash log. I get a windows error message saying "Java(TM) platform SE binary has stopped working" and then it gives me the options to debug or close program. I then uninstalled the 64 bit java and minecraft opened and ran perfectly again. I then tried re-downloading and installing the 64 bit version and uninstalling the 32 bit version and java began crashing again. Lastly, I tried uninstalling all java versions from my computer, deleting all minecraft-related files from my %appdata% folder, restarting my computer, reinstalling Java 7 update 60 64-bit version, restarting again, downloading a new copy of Minecraft.exe from Mojang's website, and trying to run it. Minecraft still crashed and gave me the "Java has stopped working" error.
I'm running 64-bit Windows 7 on an Intel i5 3210M processor. If it makes any difference, I have a 1GB Nvidia GeForce GT 630M card, along with the Intel HD Graphics. My computer also has 8gb of RAM.

after you have install java 64 bit you will need to restart your computer. Please re download java 64 bit and keep java 32 bit for performance of minecraft (if you have uninstalled java) then restart your computer and run minecraft and it should work fine

I have restarted my computer multiple times. After uninstalling everything, after reinstalling everything, and everywhere in between. I have tried running minecraft with only the 32 bit version installed, both 32 and 64 bit versions installed, and just the 64 bit version. Whenever the 64 bit version is on my computer, it crashes before the launcher can even come up. Having only 32 bit java installed is the only way my game will play. I need a fix for this because i need to be able to use 64 bit java.
I did try what you suggested and redownloaded the 32 bit version and restarted again, even though i had already done this before-- described in my original post, but it still didn't work. Does anyone have a solution to this? Thanks.

maybe delete java 32 bit then install java 64 bit in a process like this
1: delete java 32
2: restart your server
3: goto java website and install java 64
4: when the installation is done restart your computer
5: run minecraft and see if that can work
and when i mean restarting the computer you shutdown the computer then turn it on not click on the restart button or hold the on button

I don't think its a simple matter of uninstalling and reinstalling java. I've already tried this at least 5 different times. Has anyone else run into this? I don't understand why the minecraft client runs perfectly with 32 bit java but the second I install 64 bit it crashes...
I've been having an identical problem to the one you've described for the past few months. I am able to run Minecraft through the official launcher only while using 32 bit Java. As soon as 64 bit Java is installed on my computer, my launcher will not open. I have found that I am still able to run the game by using the AT launcher, but that doesn't really solve the problem. But it does seem to indicate that this is an issue with the launcher itself. I have run a couple of different diagnostic scripts that I found here on the forums in threads related to similar sounding issues, but the closest I've gotten to any solution is just an indication that the problem might be related to the interaction between my graphics card (Nvidia GeForce 660M), 64 bit Java, and the official launcher, though I still can't make any more progress. Have you been able to find a solution yet?
