Bug: when traveling by boat, the distance covered is not the same as the distance that appears to be covered. This causes various strange issues:
the boat may break from a crash even though it appeared to be many meters away from the shore or any object (lily pads, squid, etc.)
upon dismounting the boat, the player will seem to be teleported a short distance away, while the boat displays as having not moved
when you attempt to collect the boat or push it, it won't move or break and it's as if there is nothing there
when you log out and back in, the boat finally displays in its correct location and can be collected or pushed
Version of java: this bug has occurred on old versions of Java and was unaffected by updating to the latest version multiple times over the course of several weeks.
Operating system: this bug has occurred the same way on two different computers, one desktop running windows XP and one laptop running windows 7.
In my attempt to demonstrate the bug, I got a chunk loading delay sooner than expected, likely due to having logged out and back in several times immediately prior to running the test (it also caused the game to run really slow and choppy for several minutes). Normally, what will happen is the boat ride will seem uneventful across even several thousand meters of ocean--eventually the dislocation progresses beyond the render distance but I usually reach my destination before that. Upon getting close to shore, I'll have those weird errors with the boat.
I've had this bug since I started playing Minecraft in 1.7.8 and no updates or reinstalls have made a difference. It seems to happen on any computer and it happens on any server I play on in addition to single player, including servers that run version 1.7.2 and 1.7.5. It happens with all boat trips, it is not intermittent at all, and the dislocation seems to happen at a specific rate depending on the direction of travel but I have found it difficult to measure due to all my tests results being corrupted, like with this test. Just earlier I had traveled some 2500 meters across ocean only to have my boat break a short distance away from a swamp with lily pad-infested water. A 5-minute search yielded no sign of the boat materials, so I couldn't tell how far away it broke.
I find this problem so hard to ignore that I don't understand why nobody else seems aware of it. I highly doubt that I am the only one who is experiencing it. Why has this not been fixed a long time ago?

I want
ocean content(thanks Möjang!), nether biomes, and savanna passive mobs.
