Hello, and first of all, I don't forum much so if this is the wrong place to post this please let me know.
Now, on to the topic. Recently, I was playing on my Survival world. I went over to a horse pen within loaded distance of where I spend 75% of time I play in the world, and whaddyaknow, I found a chunk that was gone. You know, the sides of it are black and you can see caves and stuff. Now, I wouldn't be posting this here if I thought the chunk was *gone*. I can tell the chunk is still there because when I jump into it it's like I'm phasing through blocks, but there aren't blocks. (Whenever I fall down at all, it keeps teleporting me back to the same place where a block would be if the chunk was working.) Same things happen when items are dropped onto it.
I'm not dumb, I've made backups, but the last one is from a while back. If need be, I can go back to it, but it would set things back a lot for me and I'd probably have to spend 5+ hours of gameplay time making up for the lost work. Plus I've beaten the enderdragon in my corrupted world, and not in my backup save.
I copied the world and went in to creative on the copy to try out a few things. Personally, I would be fine if the chunk was regenerated to natural terrain, because all it had in it was a few rails of my minecart track and a corner of my horse pen. Nothing substantial or needed, and all easy to rebuild. So back to the topic, I went into creative mode on the copy of my world and tried placing and igniting a block of TNT directly next to the portion of the missing chunk that had my rail track in it. And bam, I get rail tracks and redstone torches phasing through nonexistent blocks. This proves that the data from the chunk wasn't deleted, or even partially deleted/ regenerated to natural terrain, but just got hidden or corrupted somehow so it doesn't show.
That being said, as stated before I would be totally fine if the chunk was regenerated to natural 1.7 terrain (world was generated before 1.7, so I'd have to make the edges meet, but no big deal (there is a chunk error with naturally regenerated 1.7 terrain near my base, but it's not a black hole and I'm pretty sure I've never even changed a block in the chunk that was regenerated.))
I would be forever grateful if someone thinks they could fix it, or even wants to give it a try. If you think you can, please post on here that you think you can and I'll PM you the world download and coordinates of the corrupted chunk. I'll screenshot me inventory and save the current world in case I need to salvage player file or anything.
And please don't be a mean troll and mess anything up and send me the world back :L
Thanks in advance to whoever (if anyone) ends up fixing my corrupted world.
And again, if you think you can, post here that you think you can and I'll PM you the world download and coordinates of corrupted chunk.
P.S. In the version of the world I was playing on when it got corrupted:
I have never used any mods besides OptiFine
I have never abused any bugs, glitches, etc
I have never even let the game run while in the world for more than ~5hrs
I have never used any snapshots besides for about 3 days leading up to 1.7
I have never had very excessive amounts of mobs around the corrupted chunk
I have never used any 3rd party program to modify the world in any way
I have never even turned cheats on or gone into creative mode prior to finding the missing chunk
I have brought 2 players other than myself onto it, but 1 didn't change any blocks and the total playtime of both added together in my world is less than an hour
I have replaced the world with a backup when something went wrong 1 or 2 times (notably when I accidentally went onto the world in a 1.8 snapshot and lots of things got corrupted, I went to a previous backup)
The world was created the day 1.6 came out.
