My daughters and I have been playing a family game via LAN for several months now. I host the LAN world on my computer. Everything is fine on my end- I'm in the location I expect to be and my inventory is as it should be. The problem is that when my daughters logged in yesterday to the LAN world, they arrive at spawn point (despite having slept in beds on previous sessions) and have absolutely nothing in their inventories. It's as if they were joining the game for the very first time. I have backups of the "save" files from two previous dates and the same thing occurs when I try those saved files. We started the game at 1.7.5 and subsequently updated to 1.7.9. There were no issues after the updates. Furthermore, I used a NBT editor to look at their player .dat files and as far as I can determine, the files indicate that they should have items in their inventory. Can anyone tell me what might have caused this and whether it can be fixed?

TIA!
There's a chance that their player files have been corrupted, possibly from the version update you mentioned. NBT is a picky language, one small inconsistency and the whole thing malfunctions.
